Williams revealed 2025 F1 Car – FW47 launch at an event in Silverstone
Williams Racing has unveiled its 2025 Formula 1 challenger, the FW47, during a launch event at Silverstone on February 14, 2025. This event marks a significant milestone for the team as it aims to return to the forefront of competitive racing.
The FW47 will be steered by the seasoned duo of Alex Albon and newcomer Carlos Sainz Jr., who joins Williams after his tenure with Ferrari. Sainz’s transition to Williams is seen as a strategic move to infuse the team with fresh insights and experience.
During the initial shakedown at Silverstone, Sainz completed the first laps in the FW47, expressing satisfaction with the car’s performance. He noted the inherent challenges of debuting a new car but was pleased with the smooth operation during the installation lap.
Team Principal James Vowles highlighted that the FW47 represents an evolution of the previous year’s car, with meticulous enhancements made over the winter. He emphasized the team’s commitment to continuous improvement, noting that no component was left unrefined in their pursuit of progress.
Looking ahead, Williams is set to reveal the FW47’s official race livery at the F1 75 Live event at The O2 in London on February 18, 2025. This unveiling is part of the broader celebration of Formula 1’s 75th anniversary, bringing together all teams for a unified season launch.
The team is cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season. While acknowledging the competitiveness of the field, Vowles suggested that achieving a podium finish, though challenging, is within the realm of possibility given the right circumstances.
Pre-season testing is scheduled to take place in Bahrain from February 26 to 28, 2025, providing Williams with the opportunity to fine-tune the FW47 ahead of the season opener in Melbourne on March 16, 2025. With a blend of experienced driving talent and a meticulously developed car, Williams Racing is poised to make a notable impact in the 2025 Formula 1 season.
